Restaurants
There are restaurant options all over the mall, but they're kind of hidden withing the Museums. There are food courts in the Air & Space museum, The Old Post Office Building, Ronald Reagan Building (the same one with the parking garage), the Smithsonian, and many others. There are restaurants in the National Gallery of Art, the Museum of the American Indian, Union Station, and more. Addionally, there are hot dog vendors outside nearly every museum along the National Mall, as well as near the major monuments. There is also a small permanent concession stand located between the Lincoln Memorial and the neighboring Korean War Memorial. Outside the National Mall, between Constitution and Pennsylvania Ave, there are many fine restaurants, as well as cafes, fast food, and delis.
If you're looking for something truly unique, I would recommend the restaurant at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. It's located toward the east side of the National Mall, near the Captiol Building. The restaurant is a little on the pricy side, but their food is seriously some of the best museum food I've ever had. The menu rotates every few months, but its focus stays the same: the cuisine of a variety of North & South American native peoples. The food is arranged by region, allowing you to sample bits and pieces of each style. I would recommend you at least get a fried sopapilla with cinnamon and honey. I think the cost about a $1 and they're oh so very good.
