Helpful Hints
Legalities
- This is a legal & peaceful protest! Always keep that in mind!
- Absolutely no violence and no weapons! Anonymous is a peaceful organization and we'd like to keep it that way. Please don't deliver an epic footbullet to the entire collective by being stupid, bringing a weapon, or acting like an idiot.
- Obey all law enforcement officers! They're there to protect us and ensure that we're all safe, so obey them, respect them, and be sure to tell them thank you!
- Please bear in mind that the National Mall has increased security, so please cooperate peacefully with all law enforcement officials and use your common sense in all tha tyou do, i.e. don't do anything that might arouse needless concern or suspicion. Just like it's stupid to tell a bomb joke in an airport, same goes for Washington, DC.
- The Reflecting Pool is OFF LIMITS! We don't need any Forrest Gumps jumping into the water and ruining it for all of us. Besides, that water's disgustingly dirty - trust us, you don't wanna get in it.
- No alcohol or pre-drinking! Alcohol is not permitted anywhere near the national monuments, for very good reason. Alcohol simply isn't necessary as there will be plenty of lulz to be had without any need to be inebriated. Alcohol will impair your common sense and turn you into an asshat, so let's just avoid that please.
- Masks ARE legal in Washington, DC as part of a free speech demonstration. But please remember to remove them if you decide to wander around the Mall away from the rally. Masks are protests are fine, but masks on tourists look suspicious, and that's just not good.
- While masks are legal for free speech demonstrations, it is NOT legal to wear a mask while inside a government building. That includes office buildings, post offices, and inside the memorials. Just to be on the safe side, be sure that you remove your mask when not actively participating in the protest.
- Absolutely no vandalism of any kind! This includes chalking or posting fliers to the national monuments. Please respect the Mall and the War Memorials - they're part of our nation's heritage and deserve to be treated with the utmost respect.
- Please do your best to keep the National Mall clean - pick up after yourselves and please politely remind others to do the same. Leaving behind a big mess will only make us look bad and it's just plain rude.
- No nudity. Cause really, no one wants to see you naked.
- Don't do anything to disrespect teh monuments of awesome. This is our nation's capital; the Mall is home to our shared American heritage. These are the symbols of everything we're trying to uphold - human rights, civil liberties, freedom of speech, expression, and religion. We're fighting to uphold these things, so let's not disrespect the symbols of our pursuits.
Preparing for the March
- The Anonymous Code of Conduct applies. Please never forget it. When you attend this march, you will be attending as an ambassador of Anonymous. Please behave at all times as if the eyes of the world are on you, because they will be. If one of us fails, all of us fail.
- Remain hydrated and wear light clothing. Summer in DC is hot and humid! It's imperative that you be prepared for the weather. Please take every precaution not to overheat, because a fainting Anon is a useless Anon. You're much more valuable to us alive, hydrated, and happy. Plus, we just don't want anybody to get hurt. Cause that would suck.
- Sunscreen is your friend.
- Bug spray is your friend's friend.
- Be prepared to engage the public! As odd as it sounds, protests are major tourist attractions in DC. There will be hundreds of tourists drawn to the sound of epic win and knowledge; let's make sure they know we're friendly, knowledgable, and happy to answer questions. Be sure to have signs and fliers ready. Know your stuff, tell the truth, be polite, be civil, and leave everyone with a positive impression of Anonymous.
- Remember at all times why we are here. If we can do that, we will show the public how vital, honorable, and important this cause truly is.
Good luck and have a fantastic weekend in Washington, DC!
